Delta Air Lines, one of the world’s largest global airlines, visited the University of Central Florida for a recruiting event on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

Aptly named “Delta Day,” the event was presented by the UCF College of Business Administration (#UCFBusiness) Office of Professional Development. Students were given the opportunity to network with Delta representatives and complete in-person interviews. Conditional job offers were extended to candidates on Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

“We’re looking forward to spending time with the students and giving them information about our airline,” said Delta representative Erick Breckinridge before the presentation. “We’re looking for the best.”

Delta Day’s unique format resulted in 20 students completing in-person interviews, and job offers being extended to three qualified candidates.

As an industry leader, Delta offers all of its employees a competitive compensation package, excellent benefits (including matching gifts to education programs, up to $2,000 per year) and worldwide travel privileges.

“Regular info sessions usually just end with the employer hoping the student will follow up, apply, or do something,” said Director of Professional Development Lonny Butcher. “This format compartmentalizes the whole process.”

The Office of Professional Development (OPD) is unique to #UCFBusiness, providing both academic advising and career coaching services to students. Staffed by experienced human resource professionals, career coaches work to help students develop their career plan from the day they start classes in the college.

“The College of Business’s Office of Professional Development is a unique service focused on improving student outcomes,” said Butcher. “Unique in our holistic approach supporting students’ academic and professional needs, and unique in the approach we take to engaging our students, internal and external partners, and employers. Delta Day is one example of this unique approach.”
